Our program operates on a straightforward yet impactful process. Members interested in becoming mentors or mentees can easily apply through our website. After submission, applicants participate in a brief phone assessment to understand their needs and preferences better. Following the assessment, they are matched with a suitable mentor or mentee to begin their mentoring journey.
Selection and Matching
Mentors can apply through our needs request JotForm, or by contacting Vigilant Torch directly. We match mentors to mentees based on topics, availability, preferred mediums (in-person, Zoom), location, and compatibility.
Orientation and Training
We provide comprehensive orientation sessions for both mentors and mentees. These sessions cover expectations, eligibility, and training in active listening, goal setting, and conflict resolution.
Confidentiality
We ensure that mentors and mentees understand the limits of confidentiality and when exceptions may apply.
Communication and Availability
We set expectations for regular communication between mentors and mentees and encourage mentors to be accessible and responsive within reasonable timeframes.
Goal setting and Planning
We guide mentors and mentees in setting clear, achievable goals and action plans, encouraging regular review and adjustment as needed.
Accountability
Our coordinator checks in with mentors and mentees at 30, 60, and 90 days to ensure a successful relationship. Mentors and mentees can provide feedback through surveys and check-ins.
Professionalism and Ethics
We define ethical guidelines for mentors and mentees, emphasizing integrity, honesty, and respect, and encourage mentors to uphold the highest professional standards.
