This is not a mental health program. This is a mentorship marketplace where you can find someone from our special operations community who is eager to mentor or be mentored.

Mission and Goals

Our mission is to create and foster a community of mentors and mentees within our select population and their families. We aim to provide mentors with the opportunity to continue their service through mentorship while offering mentees the support and community they need to navigate various challenges. Our goal is for mentors to guide on a broad spectrum of topics, from military transition to business and any of life’s challenges.

At Vigilant Torch, we understand the unique challenges and complexities associated with being a member of our select community. That’s why our peer mentorship program covers an extensive range of areas, including:

Our program operates on a straightforward yet impactful process. Members interested in becoming mentors or mentees can easily apply through our website. After submission, applicants participate in a brief phone assessment to understand their needs and preferences better. Following the assessment, they are matched with a suitable mentor or mentee to begin their mentoring journey.

Selection and Matching

Mentors can apply through our needs request JotForm, or by contacting Vigilant Torch directly. We match mentors to mentees based on topics, availability, preferred mediums (in-person, Zoom), location, and compatibility.

 

Orientation and Training

We provide comprehensive orientation sessions for both mentors and mentees. These sessions cover expectations, eligibility, and training in active listening, goal setting, and conflict resolution.

 

Confidentiality

We ensure that mentors and mentees understand the limits of confidentiality and when exceptions may apply.

 

Communication and Availability

We set expectations for regular communication between mentors and mentees and encourage mentors to be accessible and responsive within reasonable timeframes.

 

Goal setting and Planning

We guide mentors and mentees in setting clear, achievable goals and action plans, encouraging regular review and adjustment as needed.

 

Accountability

Our coordinator checks in with mentors and mentees at 30, 60, and 90 days to ensure a successful relationship. Mentors and mentees can provide feedback through surveys and check-ins.

 

Professionalism and Ethics

We define ethical guidelines for mentors and mentees, emphasizing integrity, honesty, and respect, and encourage mentors to uphold the highest professional standards.
