“I cannot thank the VTA enough. They stepped in during a difficult time in life. I was having to make multiple trips from Virginia to Oklahoma while my father was battling cancer. The VTA allowed my family to focus on the last days of my father’s life and not stress over the steadily increasing costs of travel and a funeral. Without hesitation they provided financial assistance to help with funeral expenses. Many organizations say they want to help but their process is so cumbersome and lengthy that help seems so far away. The VTA wants to help families and they prove that every day. My extended family was in awe of the thoughtfulness of the VTA and their willingness to help. The VTA is like no other organization I have been a part of and I am proud to be a member. Today, I can sit back and reflect on all the great moments I was able to spend with my father during his last days and I owe that to the VTA.”
WAYS TO HELP
OUR FAMILY. OUR MISSION.
We provide support to Active and Former Members of the Special Operations community who may or may not be fully served by other military support organizations. To do this, we provide scholarships, emergency relief funds, family maintenance and resilience assistance, and social activity support.
HOW TO HELP
BECOME A MEMBER
Joining Vigilant Torch Association brings you access to a network of extended family who will help carry the load
when the burden becomes too heavy to manage alone.
HOW TO DONATE
Tax-deductible donations are critical to our continued ability to support our core programs. The funds collected help us support members of the Special Operations community in a variety of ways, including:
- Funeral and memorial expenses;
- Travel expenses for disabled and low-income veterans;
- Support for surviving dependents and spouses;
- Scholarship awards for dependents and spouses through the Vigilant Torch Foundation.
Donations to VTA may be made one time, on a recurring basis through your employer. For tax filing purposes, VTA can provide a letter of payment upon request.
HOW WE HELP
“Some may say blood is thicker than water, but my husband’s unit has proven that statement wrong. They have become not only coworkers or friends, but family. My mother-in-law was in a major car accident and we needed to fly out to Florida to be by her side. We never knew there was an assistance program that would help families out in times of emergency such as this…In a matter of days we received a check to cover our flight, hotel, and a rental car. I am so appreciative to call his unit our family because they have proven to me the brotherhood does not end with the soldiers, but it ends with the families.”
“Being a part of an organization that is filled with hand-selected members was one of the highlights of my career. Unfortunately, part of the uniqueness of the Unit is that when you leave, often the information flow is shut off and it becomes harder to maintain connections. The VTA afforded an opportunity for me to regain that connection with the Unit and the FUMs. Over time, as I got older, the importance of the VTA shifted…I will forever be thankful that the VTA keeps members aware of our losses. I believe that no one should be forgotten and the VTA works hard to make sure everyone has a chance to properly honor and remembers those that have served in our unit.”
